Obituary of Walter Alexander Marsh
MARSH WALTER ALEXANDER Surrounded by his loving family, Walter passed away on Saturday, October 1st, 2011, at the St Catharines General Hospital, at 81years of age. Beloved husband of Anna, for 58 years. Loving father of Jim and Lynda (Ron) McGarr. Predeceased by his son Walter Alexander Jr. (Wally). Cherished papou of Andrew, Michael and Stephanie McGarr. Walter will be lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Walter was the proud owner of Dairy Queen on Merritt St for 33 years. He was an avid sports lover and in particular hockey. He was a founding member of the Jr. B Falcons, and served with the team for 25 years. A proud moment was when he was awarded Sportsman of the Year from the City of St Catharines for his dedication to the club. Walt was well respected within the community and leaves behind many friends.
Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 11 am. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Catharines Association for Community Living, 437 Welland Ave. would be appreciated by the family.
