Obituary of Giuseppe Napolitano

Napolitano, Giuseppe "Little Joe" - Surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday March 29, 2017 at the NHS - St. Catharines Site at the age of 79 years, "Little Joe" peacefully left us. Beloved husband to Filomena (nee LaVigna) and married for almost 50 years. Devoted father to Lucy (Anthony) Continelli, Lisa (Harvey) Kolff and Anthony, and unconditionally loved Nonno to Carson, Antonio, Lucia and Bella Mia. Survived by his brother Nicola (Pat) and sister-in-law Antonetta; son-in-law to Maria LaVigna; sisters-in-law Antoinetta, Elisa (Sam), Anna (Tim) and Angie. Predeceased by his loving parents Antonio and Lucia; sisters Antoinetta, Maria and Lily and his brother Michel; son-in-law of Giovanni LaVigna and Alfonso LaVigna. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and family members. "Little Joe" as everyone grew to know him by, was a self employed truck driver that loved his job, repaired vintage cars and loved helping others. Coming from Italy in 1958 with very little as a young man and successfully built a fulfilling life in Canada as a proud Italian-Canadian. Thank you to his Oncology team of doctors, nurses and volunteers for their tireless commitment of care and compassion. A public gathering for Joe will be held at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be said in the funeral home on Sunday at 3:45 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption, 169 St. Paul Crescent, on Monday at 11 a.m. with entombment to take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Walker Cancer Centre NHS - St. Catharines Site or Canadian Diabetes Association in Joe's honour.
