Obituary of C. Joan Secord
SECORD, C. Joan (née Durdy)
Peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Henley House St. Catharines in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late James A. R. Secord. Loving mother of Roslyn (Ed) Kocot, Suzanne Gaiero, Cheryl (Bob) Evans, Stephen and Bruce (Patti). Loving Grandmother of Jeffrey, Krista, Adam (Nikkie), Justin, Angela (Maxwell), David, Elise, Eric and William. Great Grandmother of Travis. Dear sister of Bill (Pat) Durdy and the late Roslyn Durdy. Predeceased by her sons David and William. Joan was a graduate of the Mack School of Nursing (1950) and later obtained her B. A. in Psychology from Brock. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the St. Catharines General Hospital and Linhaven. In accordance with Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at St. Columba Anglican Church, 7 Columba Dr., St. Catharines, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017. Memorial donations may be made to the Lions Foundation of Canada Guide Dogs, CNIB or St. Columba Anglican Church.
