Obituary of George Wesley Scott
Passed peacefully, but suddenly on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the age of 86. Loving husband of Shirley of 62 years. Beloved father of George (Terri) of Welland. Dear grandfather of Jordan (Samantha) and Matthew of Vancouver. Survived by his sisters Ede of St. Catharines and Irene of Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters Gertrude and Alice of Winnipeg.
George arrived in St. Catharines, by way of Winnipeg, as property of the Boston Bruin organization and was placed on the St. Catharines Teepees Farm Team. He worked at TRW for 42 years and was an active member of the "Old Guard". He was a long standing member of St. Alfred's Church and served as an Usher. He passionately volunteered for the St. Vincent de Paul Society for many years. George was active in the community as a coach in the St. Catharines Minor Hockey Association and the Grantham Optimist Softball Club. Gardening and fishing were passions that he lovingly shared with his two grandsons.
Family and friends will be welcomed at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St., on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Vigil Prayers will be recited at 3pm at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine St., at 1pm. Memorial donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
