Obituary of Ann Mary Dwyer (nee Gasbarini)
Ann “Annie “Dwyer was born on December 8, 1923 (nee Gasbarini) passed away peacefully on May 6, 2017 at Linhaven Home. Predeceased by her devoted husband Frank Dwyer, sister Leta McMahon, brother Albert Gasbarini and parents Francesca and Santino Gasbarini. Ann will be greatly missed by her surviving sister Jean Gasbarini and brother Tony. Forever loved by her children Jim (Anne), Janet (Judith), Mary Bell, Maggie Haines (Phil), Maureen (Mike) Zanardi and grandchildren Mike and Dan Dwyer, Mark (Colleen) Zanardi, Sarah Huntington (Rick), Bradley and Steven Haines. Many nieces, nephews, brother/sister in laws, life long friends and neighbors will remember her generousity and kindness - visitors never left hungry or empty handed. A care package with fresh baked goods and preserves always accompanied them home. As a youth, Ann worked in the Gasbarini grocery store and later at Critelli’s Furniture. She married Frank in 1951 and together they raised five children and volunteered countless hours at Henley Island Rowing Association. Ann was an active member of St. Denis Catholic Woman’s League for sixty years - always ready to lend a hand. Somehow she found time to knit an endless supply of sweaters, blankets, baby clothes. She thoroughly enjoyed the thrill of gifting them to a relative, friend, neighbor, or even a delighted stranger. She always carried baby socks in her purse for such an occasion. Always thinking of others, her most used word in later years was ‘thank you’. Ann’sfamily extends heartfelt thanks to the very loving staff, volunteers and visitors at Linhaven where she was a happy resident since May 2015. We also wish to extend our gratitude to Carron and Tammy McLaughlin for their support and friendship to mom.
Arrangements are entrusted to the George Darte Funeral Home, 905-937-4444. Funeral Mass at St. Denis Church, 230 Lake Street on Friday May 12, 2017 at 11 am, followed by a reception in the church hall. Cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to Niagara Peninsula Children's Centre in honour of Ann.
Peaceful journey Ann, we were blessed to have you with us for so long.
