Obituary of Michele (Mike) D'Addario
Michele (Mike) D’Addario
(May 7, 1941-May 20, 2017)
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Michele (Mike) D’Addario at the age of 76, with his family by his side. His huge heart was too big for this world and it gave all it could before it couldn’t give anymore.
Cherished and devoted husband of 53 years to Anna Luisa (Marcantonio). Dearly loved father to 4 daughters; Carmelina (Frank) Arcuri, Connie (Chris) Hockey, Lucy Belchior and Linda (Chris Van Bakel). Nonno will be deeply missed by his 13 grandchildren; Adam, Mark, Ryan and Annalisa Arcuri; Anna, Michael and David Hockey; Michela and Joey Belchior; Abby, Johnny, Grace and Julia Van Bakel. Also survived by his sister Incoronata (Giuseppe) Ramolo and sister-in-law Carmela, along with siblings Luisa (Domenico) Romano, Cristina (Alberto) Mitri, Padre Timoteo, Emidio (Maria Grazia) and Roberto (Antonietta) all of Italy. Predeceased by his parents Antonio and Carmela, brothers Giovanni and Vincenzo and sisters Concetta, Maria, Maria Libera and Suor Maria Rosaria. Mike is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and will be dearly missed by his friends.
Mike was born in Limosano, Italy and moved to Canada in 1964 with his wife. He worked at Sorrento Bakery, Hayes Dana and Port Wellar Dry Docks until he retired. He was a devoted member of St. Alfred’s Church and an avid member of Club Roma, where he spent much of his time as Bar Chairman along with watching soccer and playing cards with all of his friends. He was well known for his love of gardening and his tremendous generosity and kindness. But nothing made Nonno smile more than spending time with his grandchildren and being surrounded by family. We could have not asked for a better husband, dad or nonno.
We would like to give a big thank you to Dr. Wayne Gruber, Dr. Danny Lagrotteria, Dr. Paolone and the entire staff at the Niagara Health System, along with Hamilton General for all their dedicated care over the past several years.
Family and friends will be welcomed at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be on Tuesday in the funeral home at 3 p.m. Funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, May 24th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alfred’s Church, 272 Vine St., St. Catharines. Burial will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery with reception to follow at Club Roma, 125 Vansickle Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the OneFoundation for the Niagara Health System or Raise the Roof Campaign at St. Alfred’s Church.
