Obituary of Joseph Baranek Jr.
Passed peacefully at home with his wife of 66 years Josephine at his bedside on Monday, June 5, 2017 in his 94th year. Loved father of Edward (Janina) and Joanne (Heinz Pietsch). Beloved Dziadziu of Sherrie and Chad, Jenna and Nole, Edward Jr, and Katrina. Cherished Great-Grandfather of Colton and Summer. Brother of Jennie Janik, Eliza (Joseph) Klimeczko, sisters-in-law Alexandra Hadenka and Mary Baranek and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings John and Emily.
Joseph was a member of Star of the Sea Church from his early childhood as the family settled on land in the then Louth Township when they emigrated to Canada from Wozniki, Poland, their family village. He attended Woodland School and St. Catharines Collegiate. His dream of owning his own piece of land came true when he purchased the present property in 1951. He also had 25 years of service at General Motors. He was known for his great peaches and was one of the first to plant and harvest the first “red” peach, the Red Haven.
He was very proud of his son Edward and daughter Joanne and looked forward eagerly to his grandchildren spending some of their school holidays on the farm with us.
I miss you Joe already!
