LENARTOWICH, Michael
After a spirited battle with cancer, Michael passed peacefully in the presence of his loving, immediate family on Monday, September 25, 2017 in his 88th year. Beloved husband of 66 years to Leona. Cherished father to Kathy, Brian (Carmel) and Michael. Proud Poppa of Dayna (Doug), Michelle, Diana (Cooper), Paul (Atyeh), Cameron and Breanna. Great grandfather to Andrew, Blake and Jane. Dear brother of Mary (Mitch) Plata. Born in Poland in 1929, the Lenartowich family immigrated to Canada and originally settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Michael worked as an automotive machinist for Garage Supply and McKerlie-Millen in St. Catharines for over 40 years. As a proud member and volunteer of the Canadian Polish Society, he will be remembered as a passionate cribbage player and sports enthusiast, especially as an avid Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs fan. He was a longtime volunteer for the Niagara Region parade and events committee as a parade marshal. Michael will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Thursday, September 28 from 4-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria, 3 Lyman St., St. Catharines on Friday, September 29 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre.
