Obituary of Moe Edgar
EDGAR, Moe (November 3, 1936 - September 28, 2017) - Moe passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 28th in his 81st year at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital after a long battle with dementia. Moe is survived by his two sons Warren (Nancy) and Mitchell (Janice) and pre-deceased by his wife, Judy. Proud grandfather to his four beautiful granddaughters Alexandra, Victoria, Julia and Georgia. Pre-deceased by his brother Robert “Bob” Edgar (Irene Inglis) and remembered fondly by his Edgar nieces, Laurie Blaha (Gregg), Tracy Dilawri (Neal), Leslie Rose (Jonathan) & Lynn Brophy (Brian). Moe remembered by Carol Liboiron. Moe was a life long resident of St. Catharines, a long-time teacher and basketball coach at Lakeport High School and Scottlea Public School. He played basketball in both high school and at the university level and was a passionate student of the game. Moe was an avid gardener and a member of the St. Catharines Garden City Horticultural Society as well as a coordinator of the Prime-time Garden Tour. He was a Member of Toastmasters International, a graduate of St. Catharines Collegiate, University of Windsor, McMaster University and Niagara University (USA).Thanks to the staff of Northridge Long Term Care nursing home for many years of care, patience and understanding. Thanks to the Dr.’s, nurses and staff at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital for assisting us with end of life guidance, with professionalism and excellent communication. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Friday, October 6th from 6-8p.m. A Celebration of Moe’s Life will take place on Saturday, October 7th at 10:30 am with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada and the David Suzuki Foundation in Moe’s memory.
