Obituary of Wilhelmina VanStraten

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wilhelmina on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the age of 89 with her family by her side. She is finally reunited with her first husband Gerardus Van Velzen (1976) of 25 years and her second husband William (2006) of 20 years. Loving mother of Reginald (Cathy) Van Velzen, Catharina Tocchio, Johanna Van Velzen (Dave), Ronald (Kelly) Van Velzen, Trish (Jim) Morrison and Angie (Brian) Wright. Beloved Oma of 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her dearest brother Gerry (Ali) Tesselaar of St. Catharines and siblings in Holland: Reit, Bets, Tinie (Niek), Nel (Piet), Arie (Ria) and Vera (Wil). She is predeceased by her 4 brothers John (Gre), Cor (Ria), Wim (Lien) and Piet (Ans).

Mom enjoyed playing shuffleboard, bowling, camping, knitting, music and loved dancing. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at Henley House (Montebello) for their care and compassion over the years.

Cremation has taken place and funeral arrangements are entrusted to GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.

Memorial donations made to Wells of Hope or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
