Obituary of Fred Arksey
It is with heart filled sadness that the Arksey Family announces the passing of our beloved husband and father in his 86th year on October 13, 2017. Fred passed peacefully surrounded by the love of his devoted wife Bev with whom he shared 26 wonderful years of marriage. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Patsy (Randy) and Tara, daughter-in-law Cathy, brother John (Judy), step-daughters Brenda (Paul), Carol (Tony) and Cindy. Fred’s dedication to his core values of hard work and love of family have served as an exemplary example to all of his 12 grandchildren: Stephen, Craig, Scott, Jeff, Courtney, Lauren, Keegan, Brittany, Amber, Ryan, Kara and Dezirae and 2 great-grandchildren: Cameron and Montana, in which he took great pride. Fred was predeceased by his first wife Leona and his son Bill. We take comfort in knowing that Fred is reunited with some of those he loved along with his pets.
In his early days, Fred was a seaman on the Great Lakes and he was a long time employee at the Kimberly Clark papermill. Retirement didn’t slow him down as “Big Ferd” could always be found with tools in hand, coveralls on, working on everyone’s lawnmower in his workshop/garage. Fred will always be remembered for his kindness and thoughtfulness towards his family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital; especially Nurse Dan.
Family and friends will be welcomed at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 11am at the funeral home. Memorial donations made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society and Lincoln County Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
