Dear Aruna and Sanjay,
On behalf of the Petkau family, your next-door neighbours in the '60's, I want to let you know that since we heard of the passing of both of your parents in the last year, you have been in our thoughts and prayers. We all have fond memories of our friendship with your family. We always appreciated the kindness and gentleness of both your parents as we visited in each others' homes and across our yards. We couldn't have had better neighbours. We pray you will find comfort and peace during these sad days.
Sincerely,
The Petkau Family (Henry, Agnes, Bev, Terry, Dave, Laurie, Julie and Chris)

I was saddened to learn of Dr. Marath©'s passing. Of all of the formal teachers I have had over the years, Eknath was amongst the brightest, most engaging and most dedicated. His passion for sciences seemed to be only matched by his passion for getting others interested in sciences in their lives. He was remarkable for his enthusiasm to reach out to "non-science" students in a way that encouraged them to learn about how science influenced their lives. I remember most vividly meeting him years ago and several years after graduating from Grantham; justifiably proud, he told me of attaining his doctorate. I was very happy for him, and pleased that he was willing to share that with me. I can only hope that he passed his enthusiasm on to others who have the opportunity to teach. I try to emulate him as best I can, but I know that I am not as impassioned, enthusiastic and as encouraging as Eknath was. His passing is a loss and a sorrow, but also a time to acknowledge his great success in his life's work.

May I express my sincerest condolences to Aruna and Sanjay on the passing away of your parents. I recall Dr. Marathe as a true gentleman who displayed not only a passion for the teaching of science, but also a respect for each and every one of his students. He truly was interested in the well being of all of his students. I am grateful that Dr. Marathe taught me grade 11 and 13 physics at Grantham High School (class of 1969). JP

Dear Sanjay and Aruna
It is very unfortunate and sad that you lost mom and dad within a span of 7-8 months. The moment we lose parental support we feel lonely and helpless. But everyone has to go through this phase. Baba lived a very successful and satisfied life.
You are not alone; I and my family we are with you to share the sorrow. May god give him eternal peace.

It was just last week that we were remembering "Doc M" in the Bickle home. He helped to create a scientific spark in me that lead to a career in Laboratory Medicine. I remember the day he gave me the poem "Desiderata" and how that allowed me look at my role in life differently. He was a special man and I was blessed to have had him as a teacher.

Dear Aruna,
You & I were classmates at Grantham High School. I am so sorry for the loss of your wonderful father, as well as the death of your mother.
I moved to St. Catharines from Sarnia just after the start of Grade 10 & my first class was your dad's. There was one spare lab desk; so I was without a lab partner until Lorrie (LeBlanc) Later arrived 2 weeks later from London. Lorrie & I quickly became best friends. Sadly, she died last May of cancer.
Your father was SO good-natured & fair. I NEVER recall him being unreasonable or disagreeable. What a kind man & great teacher. I am honoured that I had him as my teacher for Chemistry, Physics, etc. It was also my pleasure to get to know you.
Love,
Lindy

Dear Sanjay: I was saddened to hear that you had lost your beloved father. I know there are no words to ease the pain but I hope that the memories you have and the shared memories of all who loved him will sustain you through this difficult time. The measure of any parent is the children they raise and Sanjay, your parents raised a wonderful son. Heartfelt condolences.

It is with much sadness that I heard of the passing of your father. He was an inspiring man and I think of him often when I reflect on the kind of teacher I hope to be. More than teaching science he taught students. The ripples of his life will continue to spread through the countless people whose lives have been enriched by the students Mr. Marthe taught.

I've known your father for over 40 years during our mutual work at Torch Club. He untiringly and unselfishly contributed very much to the success of our Club and to International Assn of Torch Clubs.
I still refer to his "Book of Scientific Knowledge" to help me understand our universe. His memory lives on.
Please accept my sincere condolences.
