Obituary of Donald James Ward
WARD, Donald James - Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the age of 75. He will be forever remembered by his wife Dorothee, children Charlene Violin (Michael) and Rob. Papa will be missed dearly by grandsons Tyler and Daniel. Loving son in law of Ursula Gash. Don's sudden passing was just after watching his beloved Buffalo Sabres win a game so he left us with a big smile on his face. Don was a proud Merritton boy who lived his whole life in St. Catharines where he raised a family, started many business' including Charter Building, supported his community and forged many many friendships over the years. Don was an avid sports fan and rarely missed a game for the Sabres, Bills and Jays. This passion for sport was an integral part of his life which he shared with all of us. Don was a member of many boards, committees and charities over the years including being an original member of the Wise Guys Charity, Alzheimer's Society, Tim Horton's Children Foundation Camps and also a past Chairman of the Ontario Council of Housing and Urban Development Association. Don will never be forgotten and forever missed. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Wednesday, November 15th from 10a.m. - 12p.m. A Celebration of Don's Life will follow at 12p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. A reception will be held from 1p.m. - 4p.m at the St. Catharines Golf & Country Club. Memorial donations can be made to the Wise Guys Charity.
