This is tragic, and a great loss.
My family and I were lucky enough to know Sue in high school, in university at Laurier, and afterwards in her adventures in Acton. Sue and I shared high school friends and university friends and she was liked by everyone - probably because you always felt that Sue was rooting for you. She was everyone's biggest fan.
What a light. What a light in all of our lives. We will miss you. I miss you.
We wish strength and much love for the Romanek family.

It has taken me awhile to collect my thoughts. I have been struggling with the news of Susuanne passing. My heart is hurting, and I can feel and empathize the grief you are all feeling. My thoughts and my prayers are with you all constantly. I hope we can all find peace with Susannes passing, understanding and acceptance that she is out of pain, and most importantly the knowledge that her spirit lives on in the stories we share of her and the fond memories we have of her.
The service was beautiful, and gave an exact representation of Susanne and what she was like. She was larger than life, full of spunk and spirit. I can remember the fun summers up at the cottage, I can remember how she spoiled us kids rotten... she was the life of the party. As Carly mentioned, I do remember the ridiculous milkshakes she made us, and how excited she was to share the fun with us.
I can also remember not seeing her for sometime due to my struggles with mental health and addiction. I remember one afternoon that she was visiting with my grandma and it was the first time I had seen her in a few years. She was genuinely intrigued by my struggle and my recovery. She was incredibly warm and supportive. We shared many uplifting conversations with one another, and I truly wish we could have shared at least one more.
Susannes life mattered, she impacted people in a positive way, all of the time. I don’t think there are many people you can really say that about, but she was definitely special and she will be deeply missed.

Almost 30 uears I have known Sue and I will always remember how her smile was contagious and could light up a room. The only cheerleader in SWC history who could probably have out tackled half our team. No matter how good she was at sports she was a better person then athlete.
She was always a good friend to so many. All of my family cared for her including my parents who always loved when she visited my brother.
She was a very special person who I am glad was part of our lives.
My sincerest condolences to all of her family. Your daughter/sister was a beautiful person who you should all take pride in helping shape who she was.
She will be missed by us all.

To Mr. & Mrs. Romanek, Holly and Caroline, my deepest condolences.
Susanne was a beautiful girl, the daughter of a warm and welcoming family that lived in an idyllic country setting in Jordan, and the youngest of a delightful sibling trio. They loved her and let everyone know it.
In the 1990’s, Susanne was a prominent figure at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. She was a remarkable athlete, known for her tenacity, work ethic and camaraderie. She was a national champion (3x!) in rowing, a sharp shooter in basketball, and set the record straight on who was to be watched during a Bulldog football game: the cheeky cheerleaders. Teachers praised her, and peers—spanning all different age and social groups—loved her company and friendship. She played the magic trick of making each of us think we were her closest friend.
Susanne rode through the halls of her high school with grace and determination. But she was not without her idiosyncrasies. She loved potato and cheese soup from the cafeteria, was heavy handed with perfume, and paired sports jerseys with mini-skirts. She had eclectic tastes in just about everything.
It was always clear that Sir Winston was too small to contain the shimmering star that was Susanne. So when she ventured out to meet people from other schools no one could really take offence. And when she went away to university she was gone from Niagara, but not from people’s thoughts.
Time passed and we all grew up. Through our parents we kept in touch. Now thirty years have passed, and the contents of her life remain vivid and admirable.
