Obituary of John Lucente
LUCENTE, John
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 surrounded by his family at the age of 70. Beloved husband of Jean for 40 wonderful years. Adoring Papa to Michael (Laura), Virginia (Fala), Christina, and Paul (Courtney). Cherished Nonno to John, Paul, and Meli-Jean. He will be dearly missed by his brothers Rocco (Nicole) and Frank (Linda), his in-laws Jim (Ruth), Tom (Kathy), Bill (Molly), Brenda (Pete) and Nellie, and his Zia Maria (Zio Vince). He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Angela and Pasqualino; mother and father in-law Dorothy and Bob; brother-in-law Mark.
Family and tradition were cornerstones of John's life. From his father he learned carpentry, from his mother the art of cooking and from both the deep importance of love and family. He was a husband, father and grandfather above all else. He took pride and pleasure in helping his children mature and pursue their dreams. He spent countless hours caring for and laughing with his grandchildren, who were great joys for him. John shared many passions with his lifelong love, Jean. They travelled the world from the Rocky Mountains to his birth place, Aprigliano. They hiked over 800 km of the 900 km long Bruce Trail. They bonded over many projects, including building his backyard wood-fired oven. They did this all without ignoring the simple pleasures of sharing good food and laughter with their family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Walker Family Cancer Centre and the St. Catharines General Hospital for all their care and compassion.
