Obituary of Anna Drobnich
DROBNICH, Anna
Passed away peacefully with God’s Grace on Mon., Dec. 4, 2017 at home in her 97th year. Born in Sela, Slovenia on Sep 8, 1921. Beloved wife of the late Frank (1975). Loving Mother of Frank (Gladys), Jean Drobnich-Sorrell and John. Cherished Grandmother (Starama) of Christine (David) Funk, Steve (Karen), Karen (Clyde) Head, Dave (Amanda) Sorrell and Theresa (Rob) Wilson. Proud Great-Grandmother of Julia, Alexander, Michael, Liam, Lauren, Matthew, Nathanael, Emma and Kristopher. Dear Teta to nieces and nephews. Anna was predeceased by her sister Mary Barich and brothers Tony and John Vrscay. At the age of 15, Anna and her family left for Canada and soon learned to adapt and love her new homeland for the next 86 years. A keen sense of wisdom and hard work ethics endured throughout her marriage and into the lives of her children. Farming, an entrepreneur, her famous raspberry stand, gardening, traveling and cooking filled her zest for life. Her Slovenian heritage gave our family gatherings memorable times, with her homemade smoked sausages and delicious apple strudels. Her heartwarming laughter, cheerful smiles and genuine happiness will leave an emptiness in our hearts. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Zuliani, Dr. Rabin and the caring Nurses at the Nephrology and Dialysis Unit. Visitation will take place at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., on Thurs, Dec. 7, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers will take place at 3 p.m. on Thurs. Funeral Liturgy will take place at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 31 Chestnut St. E., on Fri, Dec. 8, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. A Rite of Committal will follow Mass at Pleasantview Memorial Garden, Hwy 20, Fonthill. Memorial donations may be made to the Trillium Gift of Life Foundation or The S. Patrick's - St. Vincent de Paul.
