TKACHYK, Helen Estelle (nee Way)
Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness while surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 9th at the St. Catharines General Hospital-NHS at the age of 81.
Much loved wife of Peter and devoted mother of Greg, Teresa (Paul) Kealey, Eileen (Glenn) McFarlane, Mark, and Melissa (Josh) Matlow. Loving Grandma of Meagan, Kyrstin, Alison, Philip, Alexandra, Elizabeth and Tracey. She will be missed by her sisters Aileen Callaghan, Sister Sheila Way, Sylvia Mullan, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by her sister Margaret Fitzgerald.
Helen was a retired teacher with the Lincoln County Catholic School Board and volunteered for many years at the Niagara Warehouse of Hope and at Birthright.
The family extends sincere thanks to the staffs of the SCGH and Hotel Dieu-Shaver, especially Sister Louise.
Helen's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street on Monday, September 12th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street on Tuesday, September 13th at 9:30am. The Rite of Committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Vigil Prayers will be celebrated in the funeral home on Monday at 8pm. If desired, memorial donations to the Niagara Warehouse of Hope or Birthright would be appreciated by the family.
