Curtis was truly one of a kind. In the 4 short years that I knew him I was always inspired by the respect and love he gave to everyone he knew. You could always count on him for anything and he was genuinely happy given he had a great family and more friends than most have in ten life times. He had it all and never took it for granted. Curtis was a very talented musician who strateched himself and made all of us want to be the best version of ourselves. I will miss his infectious laugh and sense of humour the most. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, Rest easy my friend.

Obviously there are no words to describe how devastated I was to hear the news. I was able to attend the service today and feel the outpouring of love for Curtis and the family. He truly was a special young man, very much like his father. I know how strong you all are, but it hurts my heart to have to see you all go through this. You'll never ever be forgotten my friend.
The time we first stepped on the ice together.
Introducing me to Aerosmith.
Being my warm up guy.
Our dad's coaching with each other.
Having a massive house party when I got home from Windsor.
Playing Jr with and against each other.
Watching you sing with the boys.
Just a few of the many things that you were in my life for.
My boys will always be taught the most important thing about hockey is not how far you go, or how well you play, but rather the friendships you make along the way. They will always have the #14 on the back of their bucket so they will never forget what's important.

Vicky, Carter and Syd,
There are no words to describe our shock and heartbreak at Curtis' passing. He was truly one of a kind. Vic, his complete devotion to you was so apparent - he loved all your crazy antics! On more than one occasion, I caught him quietly smiling, eyes sparkling, as he watched you buzz around at social events. I always admired the way the two of you tackled whatever life threw your way as a team.
I remember how excited Curtis was when he found out he was going to be a dad. I can still hear the emotion in his voice when he called to announce that first Carter and later Sydney had been born. He had so many dreams and hopes for his kids when they were born, and they have already exceeded all of them! He loved sharing stories of Carter's many athletic achievements and he was happy to indulge Sydney's love of animals. His family was clearly the greatest source of joy in his life.
Curtis was loved by so many of us. His huge circle of close friends is a testament to this. I was lucky to be brought into this circle when Vicky and Curtis started dating. We all swooned over Curtis when Vicky introduced him to us. Handsome and charismatic with smiling eyes and muscles! And then we discovered he was so much more than a good looking guy. He was intelligent, funny, caring, and calm. The perfect compliment to Vicky's high energy, "go-go-go" personality. They were a perfect match for each other.
I can't imagine the pain you are going through right now. I hope you can find some comfort in your memories, and in the knowledge that Curtis loved you all so much. He was a remarkable person who made a difference in the world and he will be sorely missed.
Love and hugs to you all XOXO

Thursday, February 1, 2018
Curtis was a tireless volunteer with a big smile focused on leaving the path better then when he arrived. At Heart Niagara our relationship with the Stoutenburg family led by Curtis has spanned nearly 15 years. A legacy fund in honour of his father Peter gave us an opportunity to make a difference together. The Family Fund supported heart health promotion, training and raise money to purchase automatic external defibrillators (AED).
Heart Niagara would like to reach out to his family, friends, and his community with our deepest sympathies. We had many opportunities through the fundraisers to see the love, respect and the support Curtis gave and received from his family, friends and colleagues.
AED’s were placed in public places where large groups of people gather. Proceeds from the Peter Stoutenburg Memorial Hockey Tournament chaired by Curtis place AED’s in more than 12 locations. Two of those AED’s were documented to have saved a life already. A job well done, your leadership will be missed.
Curtis enjoy pick up hockey with your dad. Karen
