John David ( Jack) Kinnear
Peacefully at the Welland General Hospital on February 9, 2018 in his 89th year.
Survived by Jackie, his loving wife of 47 years .
Children: Susan Laurin (Pat); Janet Carter; Murray Smith (Dawn);
Grandchildren: Danielle, Jessica, Crystal, Trevor, Adam, Nicki, Tara (Brett), Matthew (Larissa); great grandchildren Ethan, Nyla, Leahness, Jude; Scarlett, Darius; Adalyn, Leah, Dalton; brother in law Garry (Joan), nephews Doug (Drasko) and Richard; niece Wendy (John), nephew Wayne (Lisa).
Preceded in death by his sister Fay; sons Martin and Bradley, son in law Norman, granddaughters Jennifer and Rachel.
Jack enjoyed a successful career in the Marine Industry beginning in the engine room of Great Lakes Freighters rising to the role of Chief Engineer. He became President of Carryore, retiring from Algoma Central Corporation in 1998. Jack was known as a leader in the industry, a friend and mentor to many. He served as President of the Marine Club in 1984 and was a proud member of the Institute of Marine Engineers for many years.
Special thanks to those who loved, cared for and supported Jack in his final days.
Family and friends will be welcomed at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 10am-12pm. A Celebration of Jack's Life will follow at the funeral home at 12pm. A private family service at Park Lawn Cemetery, Toronto will take place at a later date. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
