Obituary of Victoria M. Labiuk
It is with very heavy hearts we announce our Mom’s passing on February 13, 2018. She is now surrounded by angels and in the arms of her beloved husband George who predeceased her in 2001. Vicky was born on August 22, 1933 in Cudworth, Saskatchewan. She is the loving mother of Virginia and K.C. MacLean, Larry and Rosalie Labiuk, Richard and Debbie Labiuk, Vicky and Nestor Komar. She is the adored and proud Baba of 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Vicky was predeceased by her parents John and Annie Schewaga and her 8 siblings.
Vicky was an active member at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church. She was involved with the UCWL, various bowling leagues and enjoyed playing cards. She loved sewing, baking and cooking. Her perogies, cabbage rolls and lemon pies will not be duplicated. She looked forward to Tuesday Tea with Helen and Isabel, very special neighbours for over 50 years and her special lunch dates with Marlena.
Thanks to the St. Elizabeth nurses and Care Partners with special mention to Charlene and Lourdes for their compassion and tenderness, the oncology staff, nurses and doctors at the St. Catharines General Hospital. Finally to Niagara Hospice staff and volunteers, your caring was above and beyond our expectations. We were grateful to have our Mom spend her last few days with you.
Vicky is resting at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., from 2-4pm and 6-9pm on Thursday, February 15, 2018. Panachyda will be held on Thursday at 8pm. A funeral service will be celebrated at 10am at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church on Friday, February 16, 2018. Rite of Committal will follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill. Memorial donations to Sts. Cyril and Methodius Building Fund or Hospice Niagara-Stabler House would be appreciated by the family.
