To Ellie and your family please accept my heartfelt condolences. Ed was my advertising director at the Standard, my tennis partner at White Oaks, a colleague and a friend. He was very proud of his family and of his Polish Heritage. After our tennis match we would linger for a coffee and he would talk about his trip to Poland as an adult. It would often bring tears to his eyes (and me too). Ed was also a beer connoisseur and enjoyed making his own brew. He introduced me to a few brands from around the world… my favourite (and it still is) Sapporo. As per Nancy's suggestion, I’m attaching a few photos for you of Ed doing the work he loved... advertising. Hope you like them.
Ed, my friend, may you rest in peace… Cheers!

Ellie and family - so sorry to hear of Ed's passing. Since dear Mary (Eastaugh) passed away, I haven't been up to the Sauble area much, but I do have fond memories of Ed and Ellie at family get-togethers in the years my Dad and Mary lived there. I particularly remember a round of golf with Ed at a big family reunion many years ago, I think that was when I first got to know Ed. I remember him as a strong but gentle and kind man, with a great sense of humour. May he rest in peace.

Another day, another candle in honor of Uncle Ed. My heartfelt thoughts go out to the whole family.
Sorry I can't be there; I am recovering from a severe flu-like cold that is hard to avoid in Silicon Valley this season.
Flowers en route to Darte.

Ellie Mary Laura and Micheal - and my entire family; this was very sad news and a shock. We have lost another special character in our family story. But what I have learned about the later stages of aging - I can’t help but be glad that Ed does not have to linger in pain.
My first strong memory of Ed was in the Cartoon - the matching face of a baby in a bonnet that he received from one of The Standard illustrators. “Is this one mine?” I think it said! I didn’t really understand the joke at the time - but No kidding!
I think back on our many family gatherings and your well dressed Dad always had a shaggy dog story ready for us. Aunt Nancy loved to tease Ed with joke presents and he laughed and blushed readily. Ed was always gracious and curious about what I was doing next- when Erlich came along he was very proud of Erlich’s accomplishments.
And of course, We always ate well at the Zwollies Christmas celebrations, which included Ed’s favourite Polish dishes, with meats from the best places in town. Recently, the shared space of the 2 cottages over the last years were special moments to catch up over a coffee or a cocktail.
How I will miss those times but it is important to me that our families continue to gather In Sauble Beach or wherever, so that we can continue to make the memories that we all cherish so much. Love you all, Cal

I enjoyed sitting at the table with this extraordinary man. His sparkling eyes and deep care for the ones he loved and those he didn’t. He seemed to map patterns of delicate connection that revealed his years of experience as a leader in his community and family. His tender wisdom and tolerant grace was truly impactful to me and will always be a reference point for me.
