NESKE, Hilda (nee Wadien)
Passed away peacefully, after a short illness, with her daughter by her side on Monday, March 5, 2018 at LHSC-Victoria Hospital in London at the age of 90. Predeceased by her husband Reinhard (2013). Devoted mother of Linda Alder and her husband Rob. Cherished Oma of Heather (Jorin) Strasser, Justin (Lindsey) Alder and Winston Alder. Sweet and loving Great Oma of Berkley and Hattie Alder; Luca, Mica and Nova Strasser. Predeceased by her great grandson Ethan Alder (2012) and nephew Kurt (2011). Sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. She was the last remaining sibling of 4 sisters and 5 brothers.
Hilda was born in Lukashof, Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1953. She was a delightful stay-at-home mom. Sewing, baking, gardening were her favourite activities as well as cheering for the Hamilton Tiger Cats. Along with Reinhard, they were active in the German Canadian Benevolent Society in Hamilton and later at Lindenhaus in St. Catharines. She was a long time member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hamilton and then Grace Lutheran Church in St. Catharines. In 2016 she moved to Amica London to be close to Linda and family. Here, she enjoyed the retirement lifestyle and many new friends
The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines from 6-8p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018 and Grace Lutheran Church, 213 Linwell Rd, St. Catharines, on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 11a.m.-12 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow visitation on Friday at 12p.m. Burial will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, Queenston St, St. Catharines at around 2:30 p.m. Memorial donations to both churches or the Canadian Bible Society would be appreciated by the family.
