My sincere condolences on the passing of Msgr. Ray Montague. A a past member of Sacred Heart Parish in Niagara Falls, I had the privilege to work with Fr. Ray on the Development and Peace Committee. He was a source of optimism, inspiration and outstanding guidance. Through his kindness, compassion and humanity, he always helped his parishioners to recognize their great worth and value in society. He will be greatly missed.

Our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the Montague family. Fr. Ray was a beloved priest at St. Kevin's and we missed him terribly when he was posted to another parish. His smile and great sense of humour was infectious. Because of his love and dedication for the poor, he formed a Development and Peace group at St. Kevin's which prompted my daughter and I to join and we remain active members to this day. We give thanks to God for this gentle and caring soul who will always be remembered by his many parish families.
God bless and keep you.

Our sacrament of marriage was the first for Msr. Ray - September 3, 1960 at St. Kevin in Welland. Many years later, when he was officiating at the marriage of some friends' children and during that ceremony he advised the bride and groom that when he married a couple that marriage lasted and he pointed my wife and I out as proof of that statement. Raymond was a fine man and priest. Our condolences to his family. While we are certain he will be missed we are as equally certain where he now resides.

My sincere condolences to the family. I have been praying for Mgr. Montague at the Statues of St. Joseph at St. Mary's, Blessed Sacrament & St. Patrick's Basilica in Ottawa these past 5 years. I have his ordination card under my desk blotter ( the Holy Face of Jesus) so I thought often of him at home also. I have fond memories of his time with our family, the Gaboury's (Yvon & Madeleine - Ottawa & Breslau) and especially the stories Dad had after he returned from visiting Fr. Ray in the Philippines. I will keep his soul in my prayers. I will also pray for your family. I will have a mass offered at Immaculate Conception in Peterborough where Mom & Dad are now attending. May the Good Lord grant you peace.
In Jesus & Mary, Carol Gaboury in Ottawa.

Dear Montague Family,
Father Ray's life touched many of us from far and wide. He came into my life in Grade 6 at St. Peter's School where he asked me to go on the radio show "Above All Else." That was my first introduction to the Broadcasting world and an instant connection was made with Father Montague. Throughout the years it was family Baptismals, First Communions, Confirmations, Weddings and Funerals for which we felt blessed to have his constant spiritual guidance. The most precious and memorable years celebrating Mass were the ones spent at the Carmelite and The Shaver. Father Ray made a difference in many lives and I am blessed to be one of them.
Lovingly,
Marilyn

I was the last of the " first cousins", and the last one that was married by Raymond. It will be 30 years for us this October. He told us that he saved the best for last. We also had side bet on our dinner being served on time. He won as usual. Very fond memories.

Msgr. Raymond was a big part of my life-he definitely was family. He remembered to send me a birthday card almost every year-I even got a few cards from the Philippines. I always looked forward to his visits to Michigan, which always included going to A & W for root beer. He officiated our marriage in 1986. He baptized Alison in NOTL. We stayed with him when he was at NOTL for family summer vacations. So many memories.... our family was lucky to have him in our lives. We will miss him. He will always and forever be in our hearts. May you Rest In Peace Father Ray.
Love,
Rich and Mary (Aggie Nazareno) Knoles

Father Ray was like a member of our family. He visited us frequently wherever we stayed, Toronto, Lapeer, Pontiac, Riverview. He spent Thanksgiving with us every year. He was part of all the significant events in our life- wedding of our children, baptism of most of the 13 grandchildren, and the funerals of our sisters who were very close to him. He went with us to the Philippines and everyone enjoyed his visit there. We will miss him. It is sad to see him go and yet happy that he is now in a much better place. Good bye dear friend. Till we meet again.

He was a staple at our Thanksgiving table and shared in the most precious moments in our lives including baptisms, weddings and funerals. I’ll always remember watching him sing along to Louis Armstrong’s, What A Wonderful World, at my wedding. We will miss him so much. Dig-a-dig

My sincere condolences to those that were closest to Father Ray. I am an occasional Catholic at best but Ray was open to everyone, loved to talk hockey and was one of the nicest priests to pass through Dunnville.

Bob & I send all Rays family our sympathy. I too went to St. Ann's' school in Port Dalhousie 1946-1954 and didn't know until years later that the Santa Claus who visited the Xmas party, 1948, was cousin Ray! We remember how he enjoyed a summer swim in Uncle Duffy's pool in his early priesthood days., we recall he had an interest in thoroughbreds too. A life well lived, he now rests in peace.
