Obituary of Kay Simich Wilton
It is with sad hearts we announce the death of Kay Simich Wilton, on Sunday, June 10, 2018. Kay was in her 95th year. Surrounded by her family, she passed peacefully after a long battle with Dementia. Kay was predeceased by husbands, William (Bogdan) Simich (1957), Len Wilton (2011), and son William (Billy) Simich (2017).
Her family was the light of her life. Loving and dearly loved mother of Barbara Craig (Peter) of St. Catharines, and Rob Simich (Kim) of Apsley. Cherished nanny to Kerri McIntosh (Steve), Jodi Ditillio (Tony) and Katy Sroka (Paul) all of St. Catharines, Jennifer Goddard (Derek) of Oshawa, Matt Simich (Jocelyn) of Bowmanville. Kay leaves behind 7 great grandchildren.
Born in Yugoslavia, Kay and her parents immigrated to Canada in 1927, first settling in Noranda, Quebec, then moving to Welland and Niagara Falls and finally to St. Catharines. Following the death of her first husband in 1957, Kay, then a single mother of 3, continued to operate the family business, the New Murray Hotel in downtown St. Catharines, until its sale in 1972. She then worked at Eatons, Pen Centre location until retirement.
We are eternally grateful to all the staff of Tabor Manor who cared for her in her last days with such dignity and compassion.
As per Kay’s wishes the family will hold a private graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish to, donations to Tabor Manor.
