Obituary of Salvatore Corda
CORDA, Salvatore - Passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 15th, 2018 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital at the age of 88. Beloved husband of the late Giuseppina. Cherished father of Lucia (Joe) Szeplaki and Rosa (Greg) Wong. Loving Nonno of Joseph, Stephen, Matthew, Matthew and Emily. Special brother of Teresa (Natale) Pischedda and brother-in-law to Ida Corda. Predeceased by his brothers Giovanni-Maria, Domenico, Paolo, Filipo, Antonio and his sister Maria. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Salvatore was a Machine Operator at TRW for 27 years. He was an avid farmer and gardener who always generously shared the fruits of his Harvest with his family and friends. Each year, he enjoyed making wine, sausage, prosciutto and tomato sauce with his children and grandchildren. Salvatore also enjoyed fishing at the cottage and playing endless games of Scopa, Euchre and Checkers with his grandchildren. He was a longtime member of Club Roma and St. Alfred's Church since immigrating to Canada from Sardegna, Italy in 1955. We would like to thank all of the wonderful doctors, nurses and support staff at the Greater Niagara General Hospital for the kindness, compassion and support that they provided to our beloved father. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Sunday, November 18th from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. Vigil Prayers will take place at 3p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street, St. Catharines on Monday, November 19th at 11a.m. Burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Niagara Health System would be appreciated by the family.
