Left to mourn is his beloved wife of 56 years Concettina, “Pops” will be remembered by his children Lucia (Luigi), Angelo (Debbie) and Dolorita (Greg). “Nonno” will be greatly missed by his loving grandchildren Julia, Laura, Liana, Jennica, Lucas, Chloe, Christian, Katelyn and Max; who were his pride and joy.
Pre-deceased by his parents Angelo and Lucia Donatelli, his sister Giovina, and brother Vittorio. He is survived by his brother Leonardo and Lora of Italy, and nieces and nephews.
Umberto left his hometown of Ateleta Italia in 1956, and came to St Catharines where he worked in the construction industry, as a tile setter. He helped to establish Club Roma, and worked many years as a bartender. He was involved with the Mount Carmel Society of St Alfred’s Parish, and also served as an usher. Umberto was also a 3rd degree honorary member with the Knights of Columbus Branch 1394.
He was known for his vegetable and flower gardens, and was proud to share the fruits of his labour with family, friends and neighbours.
A special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff of NHS station 2A and 2B, as well the ER staff for their excellent care.
