This is how I (Lindy) best remember Mike & his always present smile. He was either on his motorcycle or with his dog Shadow.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike through mutual fishing friends. Great memories fishing with Mike on the Black and Tan with Guy and the Reel Therapy with Dave. He always had a smile on his face every morning hoping the kings were biting. Good times with friends and enjoying every moment. We will miss you Mike!!

Mike made a big impression at the ramp but he also had his share of prizes in the SCG&F derbies.

To Michael's family,
We were very saddened to hear this today but grateful that a mutual friend of ours let us know so that my husband Robert (Bob) will be able to attend on Monday. Unfortunately, I am unable to be there due to a previous medical appointment. If you see a guy with a distinctive white handlebar moustache on Monday, that will be Bob.
Mike & my husband were members of the Alpha Zeta Fraternity & they were truly like brothers for years. I have known Mike since I was 16 years of age which was when I started dating Bob. The 3 of us spent many, many hours together and I cannot recall a single time when Mike was not smiling.
Less than a week ago I saw a photo of 2 Dobermans that had been abandoned in our area of town & I immediately thought of Mike & his black Doberman 'Shadow'. At first I was a bit cautious of & intimidated by Shadow but Mike was a devoted dog owner & he had already trained his dog well. Therefore, in no time at all, Shadow & I bonded.
Another thing that I only found out this evening from my husband was that while Mike was working for CN railroad, he called Bob to say that CN had a job opening for a surveyor & asked if Bob wanted the job. Bob did get the job & ended up working at CNR with Mike for over a year. That invitation contributed to Bob's career as a surveyor for the City of St. Catharines (retired now).
Bottom line: We admired & loved Michael and we feel a portion of your deep loss. I hope that these reminiscences of ours give you some comfort at this difficult time...& maybe some insight and new information as to what he was like as a young man.
With love,
Lindy & Bob Menzies

I’m so very sorry to hear about Mike, he was such a nice guy. We knew each other back in the day. We would run into each other every few years and reminisce about days gone by, laugh and talk about simpler times. I hope he’s driving a Vintage Mustang where the suns shines everyday. Fly with the eagles my friend, Suzie

Mike, I miss our Tuesday lunch dates at the ramp. It didn't matter whether we talked fishing, our families or nature in general, it was an enjoyable experience that I looked forward to every week. When a boat arrived to launch while we were "lunching", I always felt like telling them that we were closed for an hour. I hope you are planning to send a replacement this year on Tuesdays! Make sure their stories are as good as yours. I'll be waiting.
