DAVEY, William (Bill)
Peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the age of 94. Beloved husband to the late Jacqueline, best friend and love of his life. Loving father of Shirley (Ken) Brady, Roy (Afra) Goodine; loving Poppy to grandchildren Jennifer (Joe), Aaron (Tina), Jaime (Mike), Melanie (Stephen), Alaina (Mike), Kristina (Cameron), and great-grandchildren Benjamin, Emily, Cara, Alexander, Kenley, Emery and Dante. Also survived by his brother Charlie and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers Albert, Harvey, Johnny and Ross. Bill will be dearly missed by close friend and companion Eileen and furry friend Smokey.
Bill's passion for Japanese Bunka led to teaching for many years and volunteering at the Dunlop Seniors Centre. He was also a longtime member and treasurer of the Geranium Society, a parishioner and usher at Star of the Sea Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Thank you for the compassionate care he received from the Woolcott Wing of the Welland Hospital and a special thank you to the dialysis nurses at St. Catharines General who treated him so kindly for many years.
Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Sunday, March 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Sunday at 3 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, 34 Elgin St., Port Dalhousie on Monday, March 25 at 12 p.m. Rite of Committal to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, 2250 Hwy 20, Fonthill. If desired, memorial donations may be made to NHS-St. Catharines (Dialysis Unit).
