Obituary of Stuart Glass
GLASS, James Stuart – At Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Tuesday, April 30, 2019. Stuart Glass, formerly of St. Catharines, in his 97th year. Husband of 47 years to Helen Jackes (1998). Survived by his daughter Helen (Tom) of Chatham, Ontario and Robert (Debbie) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Predeceased by his son Hugh (2011) (Avril) of Vancouver, B.C. Grandfather of seven grandchildren – Tyler, D’Arcy, Morgan, Kaitlyn, Jamie, Torin and Ramsey; Step-Grandfather of four - Ashley, Brennan, Jonathon and Ben. Great Grandfather of eight – Alexis, Kenzie, Zoey, Skye, Maddox, Calvin, Ronan and Karsten, and Step-Great Grandfather of one – Max.
Stuart was President of the Niagara Symphony Association and of the St. Catharines Torch Club, and was a Founding Member, Historian, President and Life Member of the Probus Club of St. Catharines. He was formerly Director of Planning and Development at the Ontario Paper Company in Thorold, Ontario and remained an active member of the “Survivors Club”. He was a member, for many years, of the Niagara Peninsula Senior Men’s Golf Association and played his last game at age 90.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life, at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, and burial at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto, Ontario will take place at a later date in July, 2019.
Memorial Contributions to the Niagara Symphony Association, the Niagara Health Foundation, or to a charity of your choice, would be gratefully appreciated.
