Obituary of David Blinn Gittings
Died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 3rd, 2019 in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Judy (Lampard) for 61 years. Dear father of Nancy (Joe), John (Jeannette) and Kathy. Predeceased by his beloved son, Rob (Sue), in 2007. Loving Granddad to Sarah, Erin, Ben, Bill, Christina, Troy, Cole, David and Vanessa, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Dad was a proud member of the Niagara Regional Police Service for 40 years, retiring in 1994 with the rank of Staff Superintendent.
He was an accomplished golfer and lifetime member at the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club, where he enjoyed playing golf and bridge for 70 years. He was Club and Niagara District champion in 1962 and also served as the Club President in 1994. He served on the Board of Directors for the John Howard Society for many years. Mom and Dad were also long time members of Mountainview United Church, where Dad spent innumerable hours looking after the church facilities and chairing the property committee.
The family would like to share their appreciation to the staff at Niagara Gardens Retirement Home for their very kind and compassionate care of our Dad for the past 6 months.
The family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Thurs., May 9, 2019 from 2-4 pm and again from 7-9 pm. Cremation has taken place but a Celebration of Life will be held on Fri. May 10th at 12:00 pm at Mountainview United Church, 150 Glendale Ave., followed by a reception at the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club from 1:30 – 4:30 pm.
