Obituary of Alberto Marcella

MARCELLA, Alberto

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Alberto, surrounded by his family, on Monday, June 24, 2019 at the age of 71. Beloved husband and best friend for 52 years to Leda. Loving Father to Vilma (Johnny), Mario and Lisa. Cherished Nonno to Noah, Hannah and Natasha. He will be missed by his siblings Carmela (Giacamino), Lucia (Victorio), sisters-in-law Maria, Carmela, many nephews and nieces whom he adored and loved as well as extended family members and close dear friends. Predeceased by his parents Nicolo and Vincenza, brothers Aldorino, Paolo (Antonia), Carmine and sister Maria.

As a new married couple, Alberto and Leda immigrated to Canada in 1967 to start a new life. Alberto was a member of the Club Roma. He proudly retired from the City of St. Catharines where he was able to enjoy his garden in the summer and the sun and beach of Florida in the winter. The family would like to thank the staff at the NHS Hospitals and the Walker Family Cancer Centre for their care and compassion.

Visitation will take place at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 2-4p.m. and 6-8p.m. with Vigil Prayers being held at 3 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Alfred Church, 272 Vine St., St. Catharines, on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 11a.m. followed by a Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, Queenston St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Walker Family Cancer Centre, NHS- St. Catharines Site or the Canadian Blood Services.
