It is with grave sadness that we say goodbye to my "Sista-Friend" today. She sprinkled my day with laughter and joy because she was my "Magic Dorothy" who made the world a better place. She loved her ruby red Mustang and wore her ruby red slippers at parties and stated, "There's no place like home"... We were neighbours and dear friends for 34 years... She cared SO MUCH about me, my family and others even BEFORE HERSELF. Dorothy was a big part of our lives, family dinners, birthdays, holidays and many, many parties. She LOVED CANADA DAY because of what it meant to her father and mother who immigrated to Canada.
She shared many life lessons with my sons Nick and Andrew through the years as she watched them grow up into who they are today. Dorothy enjoyed getting to know all our family and friends and all the "youngens". She engaged in conversations with everyone she met and gave them a warm smile and a cheers! We were her FAMILY!
She fought very hard and long against this horrible cancer and even rang that victory bell at Juravinski... Dorothy was a fighter, so brave and strong! She is now at peace in God's arms.
We love her and will keep "Dorothy" in our hearts forever! Gone too soon...
France, Vito, Nick & Danelle and Andrew

Dorothy was loved and admired in the Political Science department and in the broader university community. Her smile and positive attitude lit up the gloomiest days. She was supremely kind and dedicated to the welfare of the students. Ever-helpful to faculty, whether it involved carrying out her daily duties or preparing her delicious homemade pierogies for department parties. I will remember a vivacious personality who took me for a ride in her beloved Mustang, and who was thrilled to be on the helm of our boat, on that sunny day in June 2017.
May you sail into calmer seas, Dorothy. Our hearts are broken.

I knew Dorothy since she was 4 years old. Since then, we spent a lot of time together. It felt like she was my little sister, “Doroci”. Cute as a button, sweet and always smiling. We watched her grow through the years and we are proud of her accomplishments and the person she became. She handled tough situations gracefully. Very kind heart and always cheered everyone up. We cherished a lot fun times together. When Dorothy visited us she always arrived with a bouquet of flowers from her garden or stoped to pick some up at the market. We love her very much.
She was always courageous to the end, and weak as she was, still managed to say “see ya, love you”.
“Keep on smiling” as Dorothy always said.

I give thanks for the sunshine and light that Dorothy brought into my life in so many ways. She will be remembered as a shining example of an endlessly loving child who adored and cared for her father until his passing at Linhaven. Her hugs, “smoochy” kisses and good humour added years to Chester’s (Dad’s) life. The love from Dorothy’s mother , who passed many years earlier, radiated from this memorable friend, Dorothy!
Her presence will be greatly missed by our circle of friends and by many others.
She was honoured to become a “God-Mother” and treasured those very close friendships.
We are all grateful to the friends that helped to lighten her burden in the difficult times.
Peace be with her on this next journey.
May her unfaltering faith in the Lord lead her to His promise of life eternal safely in His loving arms.
We are assured that all sadness will pass knowing that she trusted in Him.
I give thanks for the gift of her friendship.
With gratitude, respect and love,
Violette Hagerty
