Obituary of Tadeusz Walter Gierczak
Gierczak, Tadeusz Walter - Passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday March 15, 2012 at the Credit Valley Hosptial, Mississauga, Ontario in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Stefania Gierczak for 62 years. Father of Eugene and his wife Jacqueline (nee van Teunenbroek), children Melissa and Michael; Richard and his wife Mary Ann (nee Baccolini), children Jenna, Nicholas and son Edward. Tadeusz was a veteran of World War II British Army, Polish Auxillary Division 44 under General Anders and fought many major battles inculding Monte Casino. He achieved the rank of corporal and was awarded major medals of honour from Great Britain. He settled in St. Catharines and was a builder of homes, a lifetime foundng member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 418, an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, and loved to travel with his family. Family and friends will be received at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton Street on Sunday from 7-9pm, Monday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Rosary will be recited at 7pm in the funeral home on Monday. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chruch, 5 Oblate Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday at 10am with entombment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by his family.
