Obituary of Edward Czechowski
CZECHOWSKI, Edward
Peacefully on Friday, July 19, 2019 at the Kingston General Hospital in his 94th year. Beloved husband and best friend of the late Ruth (2010) (nee Hutley) for more than 62 years. He and Ruth spent all their married lives in St. Catharines. Dearly loved and admired Father of Linda (Glenn Tunnock) Cuthbertson of Perth, Carol-Anne (Peter) Degenhard of St. Catharines and Susan (David) Ariss of Kingston. Cherished Grandfather of Andy, Bronwyn, Corinne (Steve), Katrina and Jaimie. Predeceased by his sisters Stella Flindall, Emilia Maleszyk and his brother William Check. He will be remembered by several nieces and nephews from the Czechowski and Hutley families. Ed worked as a foreman for General Motors before his retirement in 1981. Ed was an active man playing golf, bowling, pool and ping pong. He loved his card games and woodworking. He volunteered with the Soap Box Derby, helping many boys learn how to build and race their own cars. He never forgot his Polish Heritage, every special occasion he either made or made sure there were cabbage rolls (Golabki) and perogies on hand for everyone to enjoy. He was a caring husband, supportive dad and proud Grampa, we love you. The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff on the Kidd-Davies Wings at the Kingston General Hospital for their care and compassion during his stay. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 1-3 p.m. and 4:30-6:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home’s ceremony room on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 11 a.m. Memorial remembrances made to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
