Obituary of Olga Baraniuk
BARANIUK, Olga ( nee Bachynski) - Passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, August 24th, 2019 in her 90th year at the Hotel Dieu- Shaver Hospital for Palliative End of Life Care Unit. Beloved wife of 65 years to the late Dmytro (Matt) (predeceased Oct. 23, 2014). Loving mother of Christine (Martin) Jackson, Larry and Glenn (Jackie). Loving Baba to Amy (Ryan) and Adam (Jenn) Allcock and Malaree (Paul) and Gavin Baraniuk. Loving Super Baba to Aden and Aren Allcock. Olga will be missed by her sister and brother in laws Jessie Kozachenko, Nellie Avakian, Lil Baraniuk, Cernie (Joe) Meszaros, Danny (Cathy) Baraniuk and Isadore (Chris) Baraniuk. She will also be missed by her sister in laws Sophie and Lois Bachynski. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Lena Bachynski, brothers Bill, Roy and Leo and sister Natalie (Ed) Keenan. Also predeceased by in laws Joany, Archie, Victor, Millie (John) and Sonia (Ted). Survived and missed by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Olga along with Matt were founding members of St. John the Theologian Ukrainian Church and enjoyed volunteering with her fellow kitchen known as the "Holy Rollers" workers, especially the pie rollers. Olga was the bookkeeper for the Churches kitchen from the beginning until 2017. Olga worked with Matt on the family farm for many years until she started working as Office Manager at Seneca Manufacturing Tool & Die from 1964 to 1995. The family extends sincere gratitude for Mom's 15 month stay at the Heatherwood. She really loved it there. Also sincere gratitude to the staff at NHS- St. Catharines site and her final comfort care at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday, August 27th from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. Panachyda will take place on Tuesday at 7:30p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John of the Theologian Ukrainian Catholic Church, 91 Lakeshore Road on Wednesday, August 28th at 11a.m. Entombment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church or the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital.
