Michael was born in St. Catharines on November 7th, 1959. He worked on the ships for many years in a career he loved and often spoke of fondly. He enjoyed fishing, darts and spending time with family and friends, especially his furry friend, Oscar. In the last few years Michael also enjoyed spending time with his partner Ann at her home in Stevensville. Michael will always be remembered for his self-less and caring nature. He was a person who would do anything to help anyone with a kind and gentle heart. He will always be thought of fondly and missed greatly by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the CCAC Palliative Team and the PSWs from St. Elizabeth Health and March of Dimes for the care they provided to Michael while at home. A special heartfelt thanks to Dr. Arvinte, Sister Louise and the palliative nursing staff at Hotel Dieu Shaver for all the care and support given during the last few months of Michael’s life. The care and professionalism shown to Michael and the family will never be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place and a private funeral service will be held. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 27th at the Kiwanis apartments, 321 Geneva St., St. Catharines, Ontario. Drop in between 2 p.m. to 5p.m. with prayers at 3 p.m. (Parking is available at the Fairview Mall). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Diabetes Canada in Michael’s name would be greatly appreciated.
