Obituary of Joan Elizabeth MacKeil
MACKEIL, Joan Elizabeth
Joan passed away at the United Mennonite Home in Vineland on Tuesday, October 1st, 2019 at the age of 88. She is finally at peace. Beloved Wife of the late Joe (2014). Devoted Mother of Joe (Prameela) MacKeil, Stacey (Larry) Wright and Dot (John) Levay. Proud Grandmother to Andrew, Shane, Devin, Kristy and Jodi and two Great-Grandchildren.
Mom dedicated her life to her family as she was the most loving, selfless and supportive wife and mother that we could ask for. Mom had a huge bright smile and a joyous, contagious laugh. She never turned down an opportunity to go shopping (especially for shoes) and when she went out she always looked like “a million bucks”. Mom especially enjoyed her Friday night dinners out with the “love of her life” Joe. She made the best apple pies. Mom was a great bowler and avid Blue Jays fan. She also enjoyed her newspaper and a sunny afternoon on the patio. Her great fondness for animals was always returned in kind. She was a positive person and a great friend. Mom, we’re happy that you’re at peace now and that you can once again cheer on those Blue Jays with Dad.
We would sincerely like to thank the United Mennonite Home for their compassionate care of Mom. In accordance with Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life in the funeral home’s chapel at 11:30 a.m. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or the United Mennonite Home would be greatly appreciated.
