Obituary of Mieczyslaw Pomorski

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Mietek Pomorski at the age of 77 on October 28, 2019 in St. Catharines.  Loving husband of Jadwiga, beloved father of Pawel and Lukasz.  Mietek will be sadly missed by his brothers Edward and Jan in Poland, as well as extended family in Canada, Stanley, Agnes, Lucy, and Maria and many nieces and nephews.

Mietek was born in Poland and came to Canada thirty years ago with his family.  He was a great musician and a beloved music teacher and organist.  In Poland, Mietek was a music professor and conductor at the University of Lublin, and toured around Europe with student choirs and orchestras.  In Canada, Mietek was a music teacher with the District School Board of Niagara and organist at St. Ann’s Church in Niagara Falls and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Polish Church in St. Catharines.  He wrote and played beautiful music for church and community events.

Mietek had a great sense of humour and optimism.  He would always welcome people and make them feel appreciated.  Everyone who knew him will miss his presence.  He will be missed by his family, friends and neighbours. 

The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street on Wednesday October 30, 2019 from 6-8pm. Vigil Prayers will be said at 7:30pm on Wednesday. A Funeral Mass will held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 5 Oblate St, St. Catharines on Thursday October 31 at 10:00am. Interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
