Marv was my first cousin. My Mom and his Mom were sisters.
My Dad and Marv's Dad were very close and loyal to each other. The two of them started Interlake Steel Products Co. Limited in Thorold, Ontario, in 1948. They had common business and political interests and integrity in all of their dealings.
Marv and I were supportive of each other over our life time, from the time we were teenagers through to his passing.
HIs last year was difficult and I was blessed to be able to help him on many occasions.
He and I valued loyalty to family and friends.
His advice was reliable and considerate at all times.
May his soul be at peace.

My father was very fond of Marv and enjoyed sparring with him about European history, politics, cars and whatever else they chose to discuss. Their meetings were never short and the discussion always lively.
I was 28 when my father died and I will never forget my first meeting with Marv to go over the estate etc. I was in a fragile state and I was dreading this meeting expecting an austere welcome. Marv's serious gaze over his glasses struck terror in my young soul. I knew then that this was a man who looked at life very seriously. Instead I was met with a sympathetic human being who understood the magnitude of what I was facing. Over the years I came to appreciate that "look" when I brought business dealings to him. At times his pedantic nature would exasperate me but I always knew that he had my best interests at heart and wanted to ensure that I was protected.
Marv was a regular patron at The Good Earth bistro for over 10 years. We could set our watches by his prompt 11:45 arrival on any given Sunday! Sadly, I witnessed his decline over the years and this summer was saddened to see him lose his independence. My entire team had become fond of our "lone dinner". My staff were saddened to learn of his passing.
Marv will be missed as able lawyer, supportive client but most of all as a loyal friend.

So sorry to hear of the death of your uncle. I knew him way back in the 70’s and never forgot him...he was such an interesting person. Sincerest sympathy.

Marv was one the the people who always made me want to be better and so many times he helped me to achieve things that I didn't believe I could. It is with a very sad heart that I write this last note to a very old friend.
