My sympathy to you Chris and your family. I have known your Mom since public school days at Queen Alexandra!! We lived on George St. Just south of Parkhill Rd. and your Mom just north of Parkhill on Water Street, right beside my future grand parents - in law !! We always enjoyed our friendship, extending into our nursing days!! She was always so positive and upbeat!! Though we didn’t keep in touch much in later years I often heard of her many accomplishments and dedication to her profession! She will be missed by many.

I consider myself incredibly lucky to have known Linda for over 30 years. I will never forget the day I met her. She interviewed me for a job at NADAS on October 6,1989 and I had no idea that day what an impact she was about to have on my life. She truly led by example and had no idea the legacy she would leave behind. She taught me (and so many others) about hard work, dedication, integrity, empathy and compassion. I got to see an independent woman with a sharp wit and a bright mind who wanted to give back. She was many things to me over the years ... boss, teacher, mentor, mother and friend. I was lucky enough to stay in touch with her after she retired and will never forget our long phone calls where we talked about everything and anything but especially the love and joy that she felt for her family. How proud she was.
I will miss you ...

Linda was the manager of a small agency that grew under her leadership and now assists thousands of individuals struggling with addiction issues every year. Not only did she have a major influence on addiction services in Niagara but she taught her staff to be caring professionals, helping some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Chris and family during this difficult time, please know that anyone who has been helped with an addiction in Niagara owes a debt of gratitude to Linda for the ground-breaking services she brought to our community. Over the years Linda helped, counselled and befriended so many people, I was blessed to be counted among this group.

I regret that I can’t pay my respects in person. Your mother and grandmother was an amazing woman. I worked for her at NADAS and she was a woman ahead of her time and learned so much from her. She lead by example, which is rare. She taught me that if it was worth doing, it was worth doing it professionally and expertly. This community was fortunate to have benefited from her hard work.

I was a member of the Salvation Army Admissions Committee with Linda for a number of years. It was a pleasure attending these meetings with her on a monthly basis. She always had a smile and a laugh for us! May the memories you share as a family bring you comfort during these difficult days.

I worked under Linda for many years. She always lead by example, Linda treated her workers like family and that was a great honour because Linda valued family above everything. She was both a hard worker and a lot of fun. She was never short on praise for a job well done. Her generosity and spirit will always bring a smile to my face. We had cake for birthdays and a wonderful Christmas celebration every year. She was a shining example of an innovative, intelligent and independent woman. I was lucky to have served the community under her leadership.
My thoughts and prayer are with Chris and the family.

Linda was a dear friend and I will miss her very much. I have many fun filled memories from when we travelled , worked or socialized together. She was passionate about Life and a “classy act!” Her contributions to the development of the Niagara Addictions Treatment Network in the 80’s were invaluable.. She was always a professional- dedicated caring health professional who left a mark on many.

My deepest condolences to family. I worked with Linda for many years and watched her grow her small assessment referral service (NADAS) into a large credible brokerage of treatment and quality services for persons experiencing substance use issues in Niagara. Our community owes her many thanks for her vision and efforts to create and build a dynamic respected agency. Linda will be missed for her sense of humor, sense style, love for her son and family and her tenacious skills. Farewell my dear friend.

Linda, affectionately known as Mac, leaves the whole 1966 nursing class of Peterborough Civic Hospital memories filled with love and laughter. She shared her family with me when we were permitted time out of residence and my heart aches for you Barb and Susan. We were each others’ maid of honour and despite then being separated by time and distance, I knew Chris was the pride of her life, and that she adored his wife Brenda and her precious grand children. When last I saw her at home, we had a wonderful visit sharing memories and pictures. I was sad she needed to leave the home and car she loved but grateful to learn that she was well cared for and that her end was peaceful. This morning one of our classmates said it best “Sad for us, better for her”.
Sincere condolences to all.
RIP Mac with love from Sharon

I join Sharon in sending condolences from our nursing classmates of 1966!!! We were and still are a close knit “ family” . Personally, I went to public school and high school as well with Linda. She was always well liked and well respected. She will be truly missed.
