I remember the Douglas family very well as we lived next door. Without question the more popular of the houses because of the fireworks in the backyard. I really didn't know Terry that well growing up because he was older than me. My contemporaries were Leo Brisbois and Ricky Dumont. My heart goes out to Porky and the entire Douglas family.

My heart goes out to family, friends and to a special person - always loved by me and my family - PORKY Douglas. Thanks for being you.
I was fortunate to have Terry as a boyhood friend. We played road hockey together with others from Bonavem Drive and Nello Street and use to have games against other streets in the area. We would play softball at the Dutch school or Lincoln Centennial sometimes after school, but mostly on weekends. Girls and Boys. It made no difference to any of us. We were just all good friends. We respected each other and always had each others backs. What great fun and camaraderie we all had. In my books, Terry was one of the most athletic guys I new. He would usually be selected by the majority of us to be one of the Captains of a Team, because he was that good. Terry and I use to make up jokes and tell Mr Hamilton, who lived next door to him. Mr Hamilton would always laugh, even if they were not funny; then talk to us in double-talk. We loved it when he did that, as did other kids on the street. Too funny. I did not play ice hockey with Terry, but we would go in his basement; and along with his brother Kelly and Randy Gayder (who lived across the street from him) would fire red rubber pucks at him in a hockey net, set up in his basement. He suffered a few bruises, but that never bothered him. "Go ahead and shoot" he would say. He had a great coach in his dad Porky, who would often pop in and go in net for a couple shots. It was cool, knowing he use to be a goaltender for the St Catharines Teepees for a few years. Talk about a jokester. His dad made us all laugh our heads off. I enjoyed the time I spent with Terry as a young fella and thought of those times on Bonavem Drive many times throughout my life. It helped me through some tough times. Thanks Terry for being a part of my history and being a good guy. I will think of you leaving this earth while we watched the fireworks in your back yard, when we were young boys. There was never a dull moment. You will not be forgotten by me. Marty Brisbois

Bonavem Drive was the place to be for your growing up years.. we all had the best times just hanging out together while our parents played horseshoes For 26 houses we had well over 100 kids on the street I attended school with Terry and remember him as being just a nice guy , driven with a great smile. The Douglas family had a Dad who never stopped working. After every snowfall Terry's dad Porky would be out there with his snow blower taking care of the street. In the Brisbois household we called him the mayor. On behalf of all the Brisbois just know we are truly sorry for the loss of Terry, we are grateful we got to know him.
