i had the good fortune to know Jim throughout my more than 40 years of active involvement in Local 199. He was a real gentleman. I always respected him and particularly respected his lifelong commitment to the labour movement. Coming from Scotland as he did Jim clearly had to have had a deeply held belief in advancing the interests of the working class forged in his youth. His passing is a loss to us all and to the labour community in particular. RIP Brother.

My deepest condolences to Jim's family and friends.
Jim was an amazing person and union leader who was always doing what he could to help workers and others less fortunate in the community. He hated injustice of any kind. As well, Jim was a role model for many younger union activists and many of us benefitted from his always thoughtful and kind demeanor. He always took time to connect and discuss issues with his union brothers and sisters. It was always a pleasure listening to Jim's logical inputs at UAW/CAW councils, conventions and at the union hall. He was a leader and the kind of staff rep and person many aspired to be in the union. His life's work has helped make this society a much stronger and better one.
Thanks Jim and rest in peace brother.
