Obituary of Bart Meek
MEEK, James Barton "Bart"
Passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 14, 2012 so he could spend Valentine's Day with his beloved "Joanie". Bart was in his 90th year. He leaves behind many family and friends who loved him dearly: his brother Stewart Meek, his nieces Shannon Crowe, Carol Waterhouse, Pat Meek, Gale Meek, Lori (Leonard) Berry and nephew Greg (Joanne) Taylor as well as many great nieces and nephews. Bart is survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Julie Taylor as well as special friends Mike and Karen Simpson, Carol Reid and the Torigian families. Bart was predeceased by his wife Joan (2011), his sister Betty Crowe, sister-in-law Esther Meek, and nephews Gary Meek, David Crowe and Bart Crowe. He will be sadly missed by his friends at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24 in St. Catharines. Many thanks to John Bergin and the Henley House staff with a special acknowledgement to Shelley, Lisa, Margaret, Veta and the staff on the Lakeside floor for their care and support over the past year. In accordance with Bart's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. in St. Catharines, from 11-12 p.m. A celebration of Bart's life will be held at 12 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery immediately following the memorial service. Donations may be made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
