It was obvious Butch was a committed educator, and really cared about people. I didn't know him very well, we were long-distance family, but my experiences with him still made a lasting impression on me.

So sad to hear about Rick's passing. He was my geography teacher at Sheridan Park in 1976. He was the funniest teacher I ever had and one reason why I became a geography teacher and avid golfer. We used Rick's deafening whistle during the production of A Christmas Happy Days. I bumped into Rick at different DSBN functions throughout Niagara and we always had a few laughs about teaching. You will be missed my friend. Chris Giles, Sheridan Park Class of '77.

To Rose, Jennifer and Kevin,
So sorry for your loss. At Gracefield, Brooke and Jennifer were classmates and spent many hours at each other's homes. Brooke always enjoyed those visits and Butch's sense of humour. I do remember Rose and Butch taking their nightly walk past our home because it was good for you. Enjoy your precious memories and I hope it it eases the pain and brings comfort until you can meet again. Sending prayers and hugs, Brenda and Dave Young

ChaCha Rose,
I was so so sad to hear of Uncle Butch’s passing. I have thought of you every day since. I wish I could give you the warmest hug. I will always remember Uncle Butch as the friendliest and happiest person in every room I entered. No matter how long we were apart he was always so welcoming and his hugs so warm. I will miss him so much and I can not wait until I can see you again and hopefully provide some comfort. Thinking of you often, love always, Olivia Marino❤️

Dear Rose, We are so sorry for your loss. You and Rick shared your kind, generous, happy lives with many. We will never forget how you included us in a celebration of many accomplishments for many of your friends at your house. We felt so honoured and loved and vowed to live by your example. Rick was my VP at Virgil School and always had a smile and treated staff, students and community with respect and kindness.
Kevin and Jennifer, you had a wonderful father. Loving, Proud and Funny. We know he will be sadly missed, but remember the good times and his sense of humour.
Our thoughts and prayers go to all of you and your family members during this trying time. May you find peace and love.

To The entire Marino clan;
I am a life long friend of the Marino family and watched Butch grow up to be the successful man he was, a winner at everything he undertook, his baseball, his career, his family and his love of his community.
I find it very hard to see the children of my diminishing circle of friends pass on, let alone the passing of my friends of my age.
It is deeply sad to see the next generation pass on.
Respectfully Art Ellis

What can I say about the dad of my best childhood friend, Jennifer? This amazing man exuded a zest for life. He loves to spend time with his kids (and me) in the backyard, was always accepting of a sleepover and being kicked out of his den so we could watch the Flintstones and giggle together. He was helpful and so loving. I’m so glad I got to see him a couple years ago in his backyard, at ease tending to all his plants and flowers while his wife, Rose tended to Jennifer’s acreage and horse in Alberta. His laughter was contagious, as was his smile. I am heartbroken for his family and cannot stop thinking about them. I hope he knows how much he was loved and respected by his family, friends, neighbours, colleagues and students.
You will be missed.
Xo Julie
