I am very sad to learn of Jerry's passing and my condolences to all the family. My name is Ken MacDonald and Jerry and Don Williamson were kind enough to hire me out of Niagara College to work for them in 1974. I remember Jerry (I knew him as Jud always) as being very kind, soft-spoken and very talented. I think I learned how to conduct myself for the rest of my career from his example.
When my life situation changed and I decided to move out west, Jerry was kind enough to do a portrait of me as a going away gift that hung on my parents wall.
The years I spent at Williamson & Lalonde were life changing for me and I will always be grateful for his guidance.
The photo shows Jerry & I at our desks at the office.

I was so very sorry to hear of your father's passing. I have fond memories of both your Mom and Dad from our visits to St. Catharines with my mom (Mary Jean) when I was a child. Without a doubt your Dad's Charlie Farquarson impersonation stands out for me all these years later. Thinking of you all, and hoping that your memories from a life so well-lived bring you some comfort.

To the Lalonde Family
It was a shocking phone call that told us of the passing of Jerry, a day after Tom had spoken with him. What a way to go and what a birthday gift for Theresa. Give her a hug from us and rest in peace.

To all the Lalonde family I want to express my prayers and condolences to you on the death of Jerry. I remember him fondly from my time at St. Julia's for his strong faith and for his artwork help for the parish. I will remember Jerry and all the family in a special way in my prayers and Masses here in Thunder Bay. May the Lord bring you comfort and strength at this time.
Sincerely,
Bishop Fred Colli

To the entire Lalonde family - please accept my sincere condolences for your Dad. Mr. Lalonde was a very nice man. It seems not long ago we saw him when he had a tent at Montebello Park sketching portraits. His excellent sketch of St.Julia’s Church has been on the front cover of the weekly Bulletin for over 50 years. We have an original painting on the wall at our Dads home - it’s value has risen. A life very well lived ! All the Best to you all. Larry and Barb, Carly, Emily and Julia Dugo

There was never a kinder, more sincere, and genuine person than your dad. He really was one in a million! I had the privilege of working with him at W&L for about 10 years and he was absolutely one of the best that you would ever want to work or be associated with. He never harboured a grudge and I doubt that he ever had a bad word to say about anyone. He took you for what you are...no strings attached. He and your Mom helped out at our wedding because as far as Shirley and I were concerned they were the epitome of friendship and what a good marriage stood for. Before I sat down to write this, I counted, and I have 5 of his paintings displayed throughout our house. I have a cottage in the Balm Beach area, so I am very familiar with the area as well as the old homestead in Lafontaine.
I remember talking to him at one of the outdoor art shows about 10 years ago and you know, he was just the same old Jerry! He truly was in inspiration to a lot of people in very different ways. What a wonderful legacy he has left for all of you...as well as people like myself.
It has been said that there is no greater exercise for the heart than reaching out to help someone and that is what he did. He did it often,,, and he did it, oh so well.
We have lost, but heaven has gained one of the finest human beings I have ever known. He will be missed.
