Mark devoted many years of his long career to the Misener ships. Probably his biggest achievement was to be the driving force behind Misener's venture into foreign going ships.
When the Selkirk Settler sailed from the river Clyde in Scotland in April 1983 it was the first ship under Canadian flag with a Canadian crew that had crossed the Atlantic for many years.
I spent three months in Govan Scotland during the construction of three deep sea Lakers. The Canada Marquis and The Saskatchewan Pioneer were the other two. During that period, I got to appreciate Mark’s abilities as a hard-working organiser, determined to do things in the right way but with with a human touch. He became more than a boss he became a friend.
Céline and I send our condolences to his extended family, particularly to Ruth and Danny who we knew well.
