Obituary of Michael Patrick Foley
FOLEY, Michael Patrick (Mike) July 31st, 1929- February 7th, 2012- It is with great sadness that Mike's family announces his death on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012 with his loving family by his side at Hospice Niagara after a lengthy battle with cancer. Beloved husband and friend of Annette (Pigeon). Loving father of Karen (Frank) Moriello and Kevin (Dana) Foley. Cherished grandfather of Michael and Frank (Ashley) Moriello, Cameron and Alexandria Foley. Special brother of Terry (Maryann) Foley, sisters in law Blanche Pigeon, Rita Birney and Sheila Pigeon. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and his close friends Dave and Betty Miller and Charlie Mainville. Predeceased by his father Jeremiah. His mother Hannah (Glaster) and his twin brother Patrick Michael both passed away in August 1929. Also predeceased by his step mother Geraldine (Barkley), his sister Mary Foley, mother in law and father in law Agnes and Aime Pigeon, sisters and brothers in law Omer Pigeon, Simone and Maurice Abrams, Yvonne and Laurence Sweeney, Armand Pigeon and Clarence Birney. In Mike's younger years he was actively involved in sports having played softball with several industrial and citrus league teams and enjoyed bowling. Mike was a proud supporter and fan of his children and grandchildren's sporting teams and was always available to assist or help coach his children's teams. He also coached many other youth sports teams. Mike was a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays fan. He had a long enjoyable sales career in the patio furniture and furniture business having worked until the age of 80. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the nurses and everyone at Hospice Niagara for their care and compassion. Special thanks to nurses Amanda and Sharlene from CCAC, the PSWs, Doctors Azabi, Levesque and Roberts and the Oncology Department at St. Catharines General Hospital. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St.Catharines on Saturday, February,11th from 10a.m.-12p.m. A Celebration of Michael's Life will follow on Saturday at 12p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Private interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Hospice Niagara-The Stabler Centre would be appreciated by the family.
