Obituary of Diane Joseph
Diane Joseph (nee Hardy)
Passed peacefully after a courageous battle with ALS on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at the age of 65. Beloved wife of the late Albert (2009). Loving mother to Shawn (Carolynne) Forcier, Nancy (Steve) Joseph, Cindy Ransky, and Albert Jr. Joseph. Cherished daughter of Julie Hardy. Proud Nana of Robin (Paul), Austin (Ciarra), Ashley (Hassan), Preston, Mikhilo and Harlyn. Great-Nana to Amira, Penelope, Alina and Genevieve. Much loved sister to Roger (Linda) Hardy and Daniel (Marjolaine). Diane will also be fondly missed by many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Predeceased by her infant son (1972), her father Albert and her brother Yves.
Diane worked for several years as an RPN at Extendicare in Kirkland Lake. She had a passion for writing, poetry, painting and baking (especially her crêpes). Diane will be remembered for her positive outlook on life even throughout her illness, her friendly smile, and for her love of family. She enjoyed going on walks with her close friend Joyce, Bingo with friends, and taking part in any community events.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital and LHIN for their kindness and support throughout the past few years.
In keeping with Diane’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. A Celebration of Life will be held in Diane’s hometown Matachewan at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the ALS Society.
Footprints in the Sand
One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."
