MONTEL, Annastasia (nee Schmidt)
Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, January 15, 2021 in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Joseph (1996). Loving mother of Irma (Paul) Whynacht and Trudy (Kevin) Anzik. Cherished Oma of Eric (Crystal) Brejcha, Erin (Jamie) Costa, Michael Whynacht, Natasha and Alysha Anzik. Great-Oma to Taylor, Ashton, Tyson, Luca, Matias and Chanel. Annastasia will also be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews around the world. Annastasia was the youngest and last surviving member of the Schmidt siblings, and was predeceased by her brother and eight sisters.
Annastasia was an active and longtime member of Club Heidelberg, Lipa Park, Dunlop Seniors Centre, and was a parishioner at St. Denis Church. She will be remembered for her stylish outfits, her smile, and for her love of dancing.
Arrangements are entrusted to the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral and burial will take place. A visitation to celebrate Annastasia’s life will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
