Obituary of Irene Pelc
It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Pelc (Swieton) announce her sudden and peaceful death, on January 19, 2021, at the age of 92, Nipissing Manor, Corbeil, Ontario.
Irene will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Ignace, her son Kas (Alana), her daughter Sophie (André) Brochu, her sister Laura Morawski (Ed), brother-in-law Henry Kane (Helen), many nieces, nephews, and family friends, Jerzy, p.d., and Danuta Wagner.
Irene was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Katherine Swieton, and her sisters Joanne (John) Siemiernik , Jean (Leon) Szulczewski, and Helen Kane.
With her parents and siblings, Irene survived the trek during World War II to Siberia, the Middle East, England, and finally to Canada from their native home Stanisławowska, Poland.
Irene and Ignace met in Brantford, Ontario and were married in 1956. They made their home in St. Catharines where Irene was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for many years, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Polish Branch 418.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Nipissing Manor for their compassionate care of Irene; to St. Alphonsus Ligouri, Callander, parish staff and parishioners for their ongoing prayerful support; and to the Darte Funeral Home for their courteous and thoughtful attention to all our arrangements.

A private Memorial service, celebrated by Fr. Slawek Oblak, OMI, will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at the George Darte Funeral Home, immediately followed by interment at the Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
As per COVID restrictions, visitation is limited to 10 people max. All guests attending the visitation must wear a mask and must call (905) 937-4444 to make an appointment.
